Today is Saturday. Usually Saturdays are pretty slow to start around here. With two teenagers and three others who are quickly approaching the teen years, as well as an overworked wife and mom, sleeping in a little later than normal is usually on the unofficial Saturday morning schedule. Not today. Everyone was up bright and early and ready to rock, it was time for the Granger Community Church Supply Drop.
If you keep up with my blog you know I love to serve. It is the highlight of my life. It hasn’t always been that way, I used to be the most selfish guy you had ever met. Jesus changed that. Today, I can’t get enough. And seeing my family serve alongside hundreds of others is awesome!
As a church, we went to over fifty different locations delivering totes filled with supplies. From small comforts for the forgotten in our local nursing homes, to minor supplies for the over-stretched teachers in our area. Teams spread around our community to drop our gifts, pray for the forgotten or overworked, and to share the smiles and laughs that come from a church on mission. It was great!
I saw kids as young as 3 standing in assembly-line type formations filling totes with our gifts. There were wise looking grandparents piling into cars and racing off to the next drop location. No one was left out, everyone had a great time, and we were the hands and feet of Jesus the whole time. It does not get much better than that.
